Our professor suddenly stopped his lecture about — honestly, I don’t even remember what — and started talking about online businesses and course creation.
For ten minutes, he shared stories about four Udemy instructors who had made $1 million in 2012.
Those ten minutes were worth more than my entire Master’s degree tuition. (Sorry, professor!)
The Spark That Lit the Fire 🔥
I was a regular IT & Network Administrator then, managing servers and troubleshooting network issues in a traditional 9–5 job, and sometimes staying till 8 (if you know an IT Admin, you know this!)
But that brief discussion triggered something in me.
I’d always dreamed of financial and time freedom — the ability to work on my terms, focus on family, continue learning, and pursue personal research. Finally, I saw a potential path to make it happen.
But there was one tiny problem: I had no idea where to start!
The First Steps Into the Unknown
I started researching everything I could about working online and selling products.
My initial plan was simple: create IT and networking courses.
But as a shy IT admin who’d never recorded anything before, even the thought of speaking on camera made me nervous.
Not to mention the technical challenges of recording, editing, and course creation.
But I didn’t let that stop me. While working on my confidence for course creation, I developed my first products: a tool for network administrators and a utility that helped PC users compress and save disk space.
